Company Profile
The Steamin Demon Company was established in the mid 90's by Mike Downey; of a son of a carpet cleaner. Mike designed a light weight portable extractor which he named the Steamin Demon. Steamin Demon's namesake was a world champion harness horse who raced in the 50's.
The predecessor of the Steamin Demon was the Steri-Steam, a direct hook up machine that did not utilize high water flow rates. The Steri-Steam was first produced in the late 1960s in Fort Worth, Texas. John M. Downey Carpet Cleaning, was established by his grandfather in 1897 and is still operating today. In the mid 1990s, Downey's son Mike began working on ways to improve the performance of the company's equipment. He first improved the vacuum system and added an on board pre-spray system. Later he started experimenting with increased water-flow rates and found that it made a huge difference in cleaning performance. Soon thereafter the Steamin Demon was born!
